Oil & Gas
The architecture that runs the business: modernized, coherent, and built to hold.
Enterprise architecture and IT modernization for upstream, midstream, and downstream operations, turning a sprawl of aging systems into a coherent, resilient technology estate.
Sound familiar?
Decades of acquisitions have left a fragmented IT estate with no coherent architecture
Core systems are aging, heavily customized, and expensive to keep running
There's no agreed target-state architecture to plan investment against
OT and IT have grown up separately, and the seams are now a risk
Cloud adoption is happening in pockets, without a strategy behind it
Every M&A event means another technology estate to absorb with no playbook
Oil and gas runs on technology that has piled up over decades and through acquisition. An ERP in one place, a production accounting system in another. Out in the field there are historians and SCADA, and back in the enterprise there’s asset management, land and lease, a stack of point solutions, and now some cloud. Individually, each does its job. As an estate, it’s fragmented, expensive to run, and hard to change, and there’s rarely an agreed picture of where it’s all supposed to be going.
That’s not an integration problem. It’s an architecture problem. Bolting one more connection between two aging systems doesn’t reduce the risk or the run cost. It adds to both. What actually helps is a coherent enterprise architecture: a clear target state, plus a modernization roadmap leadership can fund and the discipline to execute it without taking operations down.
That’s the work we do. We’ve led complex technology transformations in the energy sector, including zero-downtime data center migrations for major energy operators and network security and NERC CIP compliance for regional power providers. We bring that same architecture-first discipline to modernizing your IT estate.
Where we help
Enterprise architecture. A target-state architecture for your technology estate (applications, data, infrastructure, and the operating model around them) that leadership can actually plan and invest against.
IT modernization. Retire, re-platform, or rebuild aging core systems, cutting custom debt and run cost and stripping out the fragility that slows the business down.
Data and cloud strategy. A deliberate approach to cloud and enterprise data, covering where it lives and how it’s governed so it actually delivers value, instead of adoption happening in pockets.
OT/IT convergence, done safely. Bring operational and information technology together, with security and segmentation built into the design from day one.
M&A technology integration. A repeatable playbook for assessing and absorbing acquired technology estates without stalling operations.
How we work
We start with the estate as it really is: cost, risk, and architecture. Then we set a target state and a roadmap you can fund, and lead the delivery. The goal is a technology estate that becomes an asset the business builds on, instead of a liability it keeps working around.
How we work
Assess the estate
We map your technology landscape, cost drivers, and risk across IT and the operational systems in the field, and find where the real gains are.
Set the architecture
We define a target-state enterprise architecture and a pragmatic modernization roadmap: what to retire, what to re-platform, what to build, and in what order.
Deliver the modernization
We lead the hands-on work (migrations, re-platforming, cloud, and integration) with the auditability and uptime this industry demands, and hand your team a system they own.
What we help you build toward
We're not handing over a boxed product. We bring the expertise, and your team ends up owning a result like this:
A clear enterprise architecture and target-state roadmap leadership can invest against
Modernized core systems with less custom debt and lower run cost
A deliberate cloud and data strategy instead of ad-hoc sprawl
OT and IT brought together safely, with security designed in
A repeatable playbook for absorbing acquisitions
Case studies
Work we've done in this space
Standing up owned ITSM during a managed-services transition
When the operator changed MSPs, its entire ITSM ran on the outgoing provider's ManageEngine tenant. We led the move to a ServiceNow platform the operator owns, configuring the platform and running the program while orchestrating the teams. We also built the REST API behind a joiner-mover-leaver pilot.
Rebuilding the external services edge for critical, real-time workloads
The external services edge, rebuilt on modern application delivery controllers, became the secure home for payroll, business analytics, and real-time drilling sensor data.
