Timothy Brown

Principal Consultant

Timothy Brown has spent nearly three decades watching digital infrastructure evolve and building the systems that run on it. Industry peers describe him as “one of the guys that actually gets it.” As Principal Consultant at Solvesight, he brings cross-domain expertise to help organizations solve complex, interconnected challenges through systems thinking and simplification. He pairs technical depth with an understanding of how organizations work, helping partners cut through complexity and focus on the problems that count.

Timothy’s career began in 1995, in the dial-up era, doing tech support at early internet service providers in the Midwest. From there he moved into systems administration and network engineering, building networks at hosting companies and helping develop early content delivery networks as the internet expanded. That early work across hosting, ISP operations, and CDN technology showed him how organizations actually build and run digital infrastructure. The lessons stuck with him.

His expertise deepened over seven years at Cisco Systems, where he rose from Systems Engineer supporting AT&T Wireless to Consulting Systems Engineer for Emerging Markets. At Cisco, Timothy handled pre-sales and post-sales consulting across mobile, video, service provider routing and switching, and managed services for organizations in more than 120 countries. He was selected for the team directing technical education through the SEVT program and became a respected track head and speaker at Cisco Live events. One industry peer noted his “impressive breadth and depth on a wide set of technologies, which he managed to drive toward customer solutions, simplifying complex technology into revenue-generating services.”

After Cisco, Timothy founded Helmsman Technology Group, delivering technology transformations for Fortune 500 organizations. The firm later became part of Network Utility Force, which was absorbed into Myriad360. His cross-domain background let him take on work others avoided: zero-downtime data center migrations for major energy sector partners and ticketing infrastructure migrations for a major U.S. passenger airline. He also handled network security for large regional nuclear power providers, including NERC CIP compliance.

At Myriad360, Timothy started as a Solutions Architect, then rose to Director of Networking Practice and, later, Vice President of Professional Services. Along the way he scaled both technical delivery and team performance. His leadership comes down to clarity: he sets a clear direction and gives people what they need to run with it. Colleagues point to his focus on communication and keeping projects on track. One put it this way: “He sets the tone and provides a role model in how best to communicate with partners.”

Timothy combines deep technical expertise across domains with a strong grasp of business strategy. Peers regularly point to his knack for sparking new ideas and building high-performing teams. As one partner noted, “Tim has always demonstrated not only technology leadership, but understanding and deciphering complex architectures into service-generating implementations.” He works in a way that gets teams to strong results while keeping client and partner relationships solid.

Timothy’s consulting strength comes from breaking down hard technical problems across networking, security, virtualization, and cloud into clear, practical solutions. A colleague noted that he “has an intimate knowledge of the networking world” and “is able to use his working knowledge as well as outside resources to overcome a variety of issues with minimum impact to performance.” That track record has made him a trusted advisor partners keep coming back to for guidance on their hardest engagements.

His approach to consulting runs on collaboration and different points of view. Rather than imposing predetermined solutions, Timothy “solicits and welcomes diverse opinions” and “actively listens to learn more about various challenges.” That habit lets him “think outside of a problem and remove bias to help make sound decisions for all parties involved.” At Solvesight, he applies the same philosophy to help organizations build adaptable systems that solve core problems and stay flexible enough to evolve as requirements change.

Timothy’s technical expertise covers solutions architecture, network engineering, security, virtualization, cloud services, and change management, across industries from streaming media and financial services to energy, telecommunications, and healthcare. Peers point to his “solution-oriented mindset,” and he puts wide cross-domain experience to work getting past obstacles and delivering results that hold up.
